Good to know

Roof product buying, answered.

Do I need a trade account to see prices?
Yes. Pricing is exclusive to registered trade customers. Registration takes about two minutes and there's no wait for approval, so you can see prices and start ordering straight away.
What's the difference between a roof lantern, a skylight and a glazed roof?
A roof lantern is a raised structure that sits proud of a flat roof on a kerb or upstand, throwing light down into the room. A skylight or rooflight is a flatter glazed unit that sits flush in the roof. A glazed roof is a full roof structure, the sort used on an orangery, conservatory or link extension.
Can I order made-to-measure roof lanterns?
Yes. Lanterns and rooflights are configured to your aperture in any size, with a choice of frame colour and glass spec. Each brand's measuring guide makes it straightforward to spec a Korniche or Atlas unit to the exact opening.
Are roof lanterns warm, or do they make a room cold?
A modern lantern stays warm. The thermally broken frame and high-performance double glazing, with argon fill, warm-edge spacers and solar-control coatings, keep U-values low and meet the Part L requirements, so the room benefits from the daylight without the heat loss.
Can they be fitted to a flat or a pitched roof?
Both. For a flat roof the lantern or skylight sits on a timber kerb or upstand, and each product page sets out the upstand guidance. Pitched lantern roofs and bespoke shapes are available for larger spans and statement extensions.
